openhouse depends on the support of individuals, foundations, and corporations in order to provide innovative housing, services and community programs for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) seniors. Your continuing support is critical to building the resources and infrastructure to support our growing community of LGBT seniors as they age.

Volunteers form the backbone of the openhouse organization. From our all-volunteer board of directors to the folks who help us out in the office, volunteers ensure we’re able to meet our mission to serve our growing community of LGBT seniors as they age in the city they’ve always called home. Join
Committee life at openhouse is fun, engaging, and a great way to leverage your particular talents on behalf of our LGBT senior community. The various committees of our Board of Directors rely on members to drive our communications strategy; aid us in our fund development efforts; conduct, analyze and disseminate important research; assist in the creation of new housing facilities welcoming to LGBT seniors; and participate in the creation and execution of a full range of fun community-based activities such as:

Advocate
Our advocates are people who seek to end discrimination and unfair treatment against our LGBT seniors. These folks have agreed to attend hearings, mail letters, make phone calls and send emails to policy makers and elected officials on a whole range of issues important to our community. By signing up to be an advocate, you agree to receive action emails requesting immediate follow-up around a range of issues at the local, state and federal levels. It’s a great way for you to lend your voice to our growing chorus of voices advocating to make positive change for our LGBT seniors.
