In Bernal Heights, where there is a concentration of LGBT residents, we began to create community connections that promise to change the way San Franciscans think of themselves, their neighbors, and ways they can care for each other as a kind of extended family. In 2008, openhouse convened meetings of LGBT neighbors and non-LGBT allies of all age groups. More than 60 neighbors have participated with great excitement.
