World AIDS Day 2020

On this World AIDS Day, Openhouse Community leader and resident Ron Cordova remembers another fall day in 1987 when a team of activists and artists took the AIDS Memorial Quilt for its first unfolding on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Ron was Technical Director for the NAMES Project/AIDS Memorial Quilt. Today, he sits on the Openhouse Steering Committee for its Living Tribute to HIV Long-Term Survivors, an art installation completed this July in the new Openhouse Community Center. The centerpiece of the tribute, a two-story mural by San Francisco artist and HIV long-term survivor David Faulk, waits for its public unveiling and dedication until another pandemic passes.
